How to use the Destinations Uncovered travel budget calculator

Our travel budget calculator helps provide a current realistic budget figure for your travel. Just enter:

• your desired location area.
• your currency.
• start date.
• end date.
• number of people traveling.
• desired buffer (none, 5%, 10%, 15% or 20%) for unexpected expenses
• Accommodation type (budget, standard, comfort or premium)
• Local transport (public, car hire/ride share or mixed)
• Estimated amount of paid tours or activities – light (1-5 hours per week) , balanced (6-19 hours per week) , full tours and paid activities (above 20 hours per week)
• Include round-trip flights. Toggle on or off. On – if you want price included. Off – if you have purchased already.
• Include travel insurance. Toggle on or off. On – calculated approximate insurance per traveler per day. Off – no insurance costs added.

The total should adjust everytime you make a selection but to be sure press the calculate estimate button. This will provide an approximate cost of your vacation. You will see the display provide:

• Estimated total
• Likely planning range (based on lowest and highest estimates in the region)
• Daily costs
• a break down of the total into the amount estimated for:

Note: This calculator does not include visas or any specific country costs (national park fees, tourist visas) They may be covered in your buffer (if you chose to include a buffer)

What do I do after using the travel budget calculator?
